Lessons of Qi Gong for Better Health and Wellness By Lee Holden
01: Introduction to Qi Gong
You will learn about the Qi Gong’s flowing movements and the slow, deep breath that propels them in this class. The life energy known as qi flows throughout the body, giving each organ and structure vitality. The body’s systems can’t function at their best when qi is obstructed, which can lead to poor health. This lesson’s breathing, stretching, and strengthening exercises will help make sure that every area of your body has access to new energy. Numerous basic motions, such as Shaking, Spreading the Feathers, Opening the Flow, and Centering, will be taught to you.
02: Qi Gong for Better Breathing
Our life force energy can drop significantly if we spend the entire day seated, hunched over our desk. However, we boost our life energy when we stand up, take a step back, open our heart, and breathe deeply with intention. This class covers the Wave Breathing, Holding Up the Sky, Rooster Spreads His Feathers, Soaring Crane, and Great Bear Swims in the Ocean moves with that objective in mind. You’ll feel both rejuvenated and more at ease by the end of this lesson—almost as if the air were breathing you.
03:Qi Gong Mindfulness in Motion
The straightforward practice of mindfulness, which is simply being aware of the moment, has been linked to significant improvements in both mental and physical health, according to recent studies. But being mindful can be difficult for the majority of us, whose brains have a habit of wandering repeatedly here and there. Throughout this set of Qi Gong exercises, we repeatedly return our mind to the present by utilizing the breath and energy circulation. Waterways, Clearing, Tiger Claw, Fireflies in the Lantern, and Lotus are examples of movements that assist us in fully experiencing the present moment.
04:Qi Gong for the Upper Back and Neck
Many of us spend hours each day slumped over our computers and smartphones—all of which contribute to strain in the upper back and neck—in this age of inactivity and repetitive action. Our neck muscles must support and balance our head throughout every awake moment, even if we had the right support, posture, and mobility throughout the day. In order to release tension from the neck, upper back, and shoulders, you will learn how to use deep belly breathing and firm yet gentle motions in this class. There are movements of bear swimming in the ocean, clearing, spreading the feathers, silk reeling, and water waves.
05: Qi Gong for Healthy Joints
Most of us picture our joints as being the major ones, such as our elbows, shoulders, hips, and knees. However, our bodies have hundreds of joints, some of which are immobile (such as those in the cranium). Our movable joints’ energy can eventually become stagnant due to stress, poor posture, and repetitive action. All of our joints can regain their suppleness and vitality when we combine the deep breathing exercises of Qi Gong with its straightforward but powerful movements. Spinal cord breathing, turtle neck, silk reelings, and opening the flow are some of the motions covered in this class.
06: Qi Gong for Arms, Wrists, and Hands
In order to improve qi circulation through the fingers and increase range of motion, this session focuses on opening energy across the tendons, muscles, ligaments, and joints of the lower arms. Despite the fact that hands are where arthritic symptoms frequently start, many forms of exercise and movement techniques neglect the importance of hand strength and flexibility. You are encouraged to pay attention to your body’s needs in this class and to stretch yourself to the desired extent. Silk Reelings, White Crane Soaring, Opening the Flow, and Baby Bird Learning to Fly are some of the movements.
07: Qi Gong for Headaches
The majority of us have headaches frequently, and almost everyone has had headache discomfort at some point. Tightened muscles in the scalp and back of the neck may be the cause of tension headaches, which are the most prevalent variety. In order to reduce discomfort and leave you feeling renewed and invigorated, Qi Gong releases stress, improves circulation, and quiets the mind. This lesson includes the following movements: Pulling Down the Sky to the Six Directions, Wave Breathing, Clearing, Spreading the Feathers, and Waterfall.
08: Qi Gong for Strong Bones
According to Chinese medicine, the body’s energy storage areas are represented by the bones, which stand for profound vitality. Additionally, they produce our red blood cells in the bone marrow. We are aware that as we age, our bones may become more porous if weight-bearing activities aren’t done to activate them. Your own body weight acts as a force to strengthen your bones during this Qi Gong exercise. These exercises will also help to improve your general energy and the flow of your qi. Knocking on the Door of Life, Shaking, The Fountain, Opening the Flow, Flying, and Bone Breathing are among the moves you’ll learn.
09: Qi Gong for High Blood Pressure
Consistently having high blood pressure puts extra strain on the heart and damages the vessels, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. According to a recent meta-analysis of research involving over 2,000 patients, Qi Gong is a successful treatment for hypertension. You can lower your risk of high blood pressure by using Qi Gong to relieve stress, unwind mentally and physically, and release stagnation to promote the free flow of energy. Among the motions you will learn in this session are Repulse the Monkey, Swimming Dragon, Water Waves, The Boa, and Embracing the Tree.

Whether we realize it or not, holding tension in our bodies can impede the flow of qi and weaken our feeling of energy. This course will teach you how to move with strength, flexibility, and intention as well as how to activate your own qi. The body’s entire energy system will be strengthened by these deliberate, gradual actions. Knocking on the Door of Life, Chi Massage, Turning a Water Wheel, Between Heaven and Earth, Embracing the Tree, Monk Holding the Pearl, and Bamboo in the Wind are some of the motions you’ll learn.
